Tomohiko Masuta appointed managing director of Falken and Sumitomo Rubber Europe
Tomohiko Masuta has assumed the position of managing director of both Falken Tyre Europe GmbH and Sumitomo Rubber Europe GmbH.
In the major all-season tyre test by AUTO BILD magazine, the Falken EUROALL SEASON AS210 was awarded the accolade of “exemplary”, coming in at fifth place in a total of 32 tested tyres, thereby securing its place among the top ten all-season tyres in the 205/55R16 size.
“A brand profile with balanced driving characteristics, stable handling in all weather conditions, good aquaplaning attributes, a high mileage capability and an affordable price” – such are the strengths that the independent testers attribute to the Falcon EUROALL SEASON AS210.
To make it into the main test alone, the tyre was required to qualify in a brake test on wet and dry roads: at initial speeds of 100 km/h, the Falken tyre achieved 51.3 m on wet and 42.7 m on dry roads, and thereby secured a place in the top third of the overall field. In the main test, the Falken tyres proved capable of more than holding their own: with a calculated mileage capability of 67,820 kilometres, the Falcon EUROALL SEASON AS210 is only around 7,000 kilometres behind the mileage capability of the test winner in this particular category. This outcome also finds reflection in the category of “price per 1,000 km” – here, at 4.05 Euros per 1,000 kilometres driven, the Falken tyres came in at second place. The fact that quality doesn’t need to be expensive was reflected in the other test categories. On a wet road surface, for example, the tyres from Falken achieved a floating speed of 78.0 km/h, a difference of just three kilometres per hour from the test winner, which is even superior to the winter tyres. The results on a wet driving circuit were also impressive: The test winner in this category was only half a second ahead of the Falken EUROALL SEASON AS210, which achieved a lap time of 12.09 seconds in this category. In addition to the handling under wet conditions, however, the tyres from Falken also achieved test results of “good” in snowy and dry driving conditions.
Available from retailers since July 2018, the multi-talented tyre from Falken offers ease of use, comfort, safety and performance 365 days a year. The EUROALL SEASON AS210A MO, approved by Mercedes-Benz for use as original equipment on its G-Class vehicles. The EUROALL SEASON AS 210 is available in 73 sizes, 13-19 inches in the 40-70 series and in the T to W speed categories.
“This result is impressive evidence that our tyres can more than hold their own in the premium segment,” explains Andreas Giese, Senior Manager Corporate Planning/Product Planning at Falken Tyre Europe GmbH, with enthusiasm about the test results. “It is also clear that our strategy of offering our customers an excellent price-performance ratio is paying dividends. With Falken tyres, there is no need to make compromises on quality, even at very good prices.”
